New! Energy infrastructure data can now be mapped on ZoomProspector

Alissa Sklar is the director of marketing for GIS Planning. She has extensive experience as a consultant, writer and educator in the fields of technology and communications. Dr. Sklar has a Ph.D. in Communications from the University of Massachusetts of Amherst, and has as worked closely with B2Bs and economic development agencies to assess, develop and implement social media strategies for business development.

We are excited to announce that we have added a new set of nationwide layers to your ZoomProspector Enterprise GIS site selection tool. This layer can be used to map out energy Infrastructure.  This data was obtained from the US Energy Information Administration (special thanks to the PA Department of Community and Economic Development for bringing this data set to our attention!).

Energy infrastructure GIS map layers

Energy infrastructure is a set of 12 new layers which are all "clickable" on the map with a fair amount of detailed information.  The list of layers includes:

Select energy layers GIS    - Coal Mines

   - Crude Oil Pipelines

   - Crude Oil Rail Terminals

   - Ethylene Crackers

  - Liquefied Natural Gas Import/Export Terminals

   - Natural Gas Interstate and Intrastate Pipelines

   - Natural Gas Market Hubs

   - Natural Gas Processing Plants

   - Natural Gas Underground Storage Facilities

   - Petroleum Product Pipelines

  - Petroleum Product Terminals

   - Petroleum Refineries

   - Power Plants

To access this new set of layers simply click on the layer tab (see image above) and click on Energy which will then bring up the complete list of layers which you can turn on/off (see image below).

If for some reason your organization would would prefer not to include one or more of these layers, please let us know and we will remove them.
